All For Good
Children & their families will have an opportunity to prepare and deliver meals to homebound seniors. This project is great for those children in Boys and Girl Scouts, youth organizations, schools, summer school programs, and similar programs. We encourage children to come in and go through the entire Meals on Wheels experience. Additionally, families are able to interact with the seniors, which in most cases is the only social contact the senior will have.
Requirements: Children must be 10 years of age, must have parents present in order to deliver (parents are required to attend a 1 hour drivers training and complete a release form)
How This Helps Our Community
Through this program, families are able to see what it takes for our agency to reach our mission of combating hunger and isolation in the senior community. They are able to feel a sense of purpose and that they are making a difference in our community. This is a great learning experience for all ages, as it provides opportunities to see how an organization is run, the importance of working as a team, as well as provides socialization.
