Corporate Takeover2019-02-26T10:55:08-06:00

Corporate Takeovers are one-time events that provide businesses, organizations, and groups throughout the county with the opportunity to volunteer together as a group. From preparing meals in our kitchen to delivering hot lunches to seniors, our Corporate Takeover program is an all-inclusive volunteer experience that promotes team-building and leadership development, while allowing people to see everything that happens in our organization on a daily basis. Corporate Takeovers are designed to provide each volunteer with a life altering experience that will remain with them for years to come.

If your company is interested in participating in a Corporate Takeover event or would like some more information, please contact our office at 972-562-6996 or email us at [email protected]

Got a question? It may just be one of those listed below.

Are we allowed to revisit the clients whom we delivered hot meals?2018-10-07T18:53:48-05:00

MOWCC wishes to extende the opportunity to Adopt-a-Route to all of our corporate takeover partners. By adopting a route, you may continue to deliver delicious meals and wellness visits to those clients you met during your takeover.

Outside contact with our clients, however is discouraged due to our clients’ rights to privacy. If you discover a senior needs additional assistance, please contact a MOWCC caseworker and we will be happy to follow up with that senior.

Are we allowed to take pictures during our takeover?2018-10-07T18:51:13-05:00

Pictures are encouraged while on the MOWCC premises, but due to the confidential nature of our program we ask that you do not take pictures of or with our clients. MOWCC is bound by HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) privacy regulations – a legislation that provides data privacy and security provisions for safeguarding medical information. Because of this law, we are not permitted to share any information about our clients with outside parties.

Can an employee make a donation after their experience?2018-10-07T18:52:42-05:00

Yes! We would be honored to accept any donation made by anyone within your corporation. Donations can be made by credit card directly through our website, made on site, or mailed in. We will provide a tax receipt for all donations made, and sincerely thank you and your employees for being the hero to our senior community.

Can we share our experience with the public?2018-10-07T18:51:39-05:00

Absolutely! We encourage all of our corporate partners to share their experience on social media, with friends and family, and with us directly. We simply ask that you do not include any of our clients’ personal information, such as names, addresses, or photographs.

How do we get in contact with a MOWCC caseworker?2018-10-07T18:54:16-05:00

All volunteer drivers are given a route book with a driver’s note page. All special requests and any additional assistance requests may be noted on the driver’s note page. Volunteers may also contact the MOWCC office directly at 972.562.6996.

How long does it typically take to run a route?2018-10-07T18:49:47-05:00

All takeovers are designed to accommodate our corporate partners. Route should take between 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete.

What documentation does MOWCC require prior to the takeover?2018-10-07T18:50:37-05:00

Before your takeover, we ask that you complete these forms and send them to our Volunteer Recruiter, Mary McAndrew. If your company does background checks, you may include those for all employees participating. If you do not background check, MOWCC will require permission to complete background checks prior to event.

Takeover Stories

Every takeover volunteer has a great story to tell, and we want to hear yours. Check out our reviews below and add yours, too!

Donald is 87 years old with a shunt in his brain to drain excess fluid.

He enjoys painting landscapes, animals, and people. Throughout his home you can find amazing pieces of art he has painted just like the one seen here. Donald has been with MOWCC for two years and the meals have helped him to continue to live and function independently in his own home while maintaining a healthy diet.

Dorothy is a 90 year old woman who has been on our services for a year now. She was recommended for our services because her sons work all day and she cannot cook for herself. Since becoming a client of MOWCC, she has increased her vegetable and fruit intake, and is getting nutritious meals. All of these things have helped her maintain her individuality and allowing her to continue to stay at home, giving her sons peace of mind when they are not there.

To Meals On Wheels (Angels in Disguise)

Thank you so much for the hot meals, which are delicious, and especially the two boxes of food and household items that were delivered. Most of the items we pass by in the store because we can’t afford them. Your help is a great relief.

Meals on Wheels Collin County is dedicated to the safety and well-being of our seniors, volunteers, and staff.  MOWCC continues to adhere to COVID19 CDC safety guidelines and social distancing.

In response to the COVID 19 shelter at home April 30th extension, MOWCC will temporarily hold all meal deliveries from April 6th -20th and allow seniors to use their 2 week supply of meals.  MOWCC staff will continue serving the needs of seniors and the community remotely with phone follow-up, well check calls, and support.

We are still accepting new clients online and they are free to call. Any monetary and in-kind donations will be accepted electronically or by mail. For drop-off in-kind and monetary donations, we will be available on the 20th-23rd of April from 9 am – 11 pm. If anything changes, we will update you as soon as possible. New volunteers may still register on our website for orientation and we will be in touch once we are back in the office.

Thank you for your commitment and kindness to the Collin County seniors.

May you stay safe and well.
