Ben was born and raised in the Dallas Texas area. He attended El Centro College in Dallas, Texas and earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He later attended the University of Phoenix where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
After graduating from high school he worked in 2-3 different professions before deciding on a career in Law Enforcement where he worked for 30 years before retiring in 2007. During his Law Enforcement career he served in many different positions. He worked as a Patrol Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lt., a Division Commander over the Criminal Investigation Division as well as the Support Services Division. He was responsible for the creation of the Field Training Officer Program (FTOP) for the last department he worked with.
Over the years he has also worked very closely with several civic organizations.
Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts where he served as an Assistant Pack Leader, Assistant Scout Master and Committee Chairman. He was also a Merit Badge Counselor for several Merit Badges.
Degree Mason with Plano Masonic Lodge.
He is a graduate of the Leadership Allen Program Class X.
He served 9 years on the Allen Parks and Recreation Board with 7 of those years as the Chairman.
In 2008 he was asked to assist with the City of Allen Bond Election where he served his community as the Chairman of Public Safety Committee to promote the Bond election representing the Police and Fire Departments.
He was invited to serve on the Allen Parks Foundation as a Board Member in 2009 and continues to serve in that capacity.
He currently sits on the Board of Trustees for Collin County Committee on Aging. While there he has served as Chairman of CCART Transportation Committee, Member of the Governance Committee and a member of the Separation Committee to separate CCART from CCCoA and establish a new and separate board for CCART.
